PEP May 2026 Newsletter

Over the past month, PEP has continued providing Wellness Center resources to multiple schools throughout Butte County. Thanks to the support of our community, schools have received items that help students regulate emotions, reduce stress, build coping skills, and return to class ready to learn. From sensory tools and calming materials to social-emotional learning games and flexible seating, these resources are being used by students every day.
Many people hear the term “Wellness Center” but may not fully understand what that means in a school setting. A school Wellness Center is a supportive space on campus where students can go for a short period to reset, regroup, and prepare to successfully return to learning. Depending on the student and situation, that might include movement activities, sensory tools, calming corners, guided conversations, social-emotional learning activities, or simply having a quiet space to breathe and regain focus during the school day.
Educators continue to share how valuable these spaces have become within their schools. Wellness Centers can provide proactive support before frustrations escalate and help students develop skills that extend far beyond the classroom, including emotional regulation, communication, problem-solving, and self-awareness. Beyond helping individual students, these spaces also contribute to calmer, more connected school environments that support learning for everyone on campus.
At PEP, we believe supporting students also means supporting the educators and schools working tirelessly to meet student needs every day. We are deeply grateful for the partnerships, encouragement, and community support that make this work possible across Butte County.
If you believe in helping students and schools succeed, we invite you to share PEP’s mission with others and help us continue expanding this work. Whether through spreading the word, partnering with us, volunteering, or making a donation, every act of support helps strengthen Wellness Centers and support students throughout our community.
Thank you for being part of the PEP community.
